    Coalfield Progress 2008 Football Preview

Had a chance to skim through the 2008 football preview in today's Coalfield Progress.

All in all, its a pretty good preview I think.

I think two of the more interesting articles were on Powell Valley and Pound, both of whom may just surprise a few people this year.

An interesting quote from Pound coach Chris Crabtree:
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">"I really believe we are going to surprise some people,"? Crabtree said. "Size-wise, nobody is going to have a bigger O-line than us. We're a whole lot bigger and a lot stronger."?

That offensive line includes senior Tyler Mullins (6-1,288) at center, junior Justin Collins (6-1, 320) at rightguard, junior Brad Dotson (6-0, 270) at right tackle, junior Daniel Jordan (6-1, 320) at left guard and junior Jerry Shortt at left tackle.
Senior Erik Bolling (6-5, 240) returns at tight end along with junior Cody Mullins (5-6, 200) at fullback.

Justin A. Mullins (6-0, 200, jr.) takes over the reigns at quarterback and will be throwing to fellow junior Nathaniel Mullins (5-11, 160) at wide receiver. Josh Lowe (6-3, 185, jr.) rounds out the starting offense at split end. </div></div>

    And from Phil Robbins...
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">"The 50 or 51 kids I have out there may be the best 50 or 51 kids I've had here as a team collectively,"? said Robbins as he prepared for his 26th season at the school. "They may not be as talented individually, but they're the best as a team in terms of everyone doing what they're supposed to do."? </div></div>

Predictions for the LPD, BDD, and CD were pretty much on target with the opinions I've been hearing out of all three districts.

Sir, this is disturbing. Why are females allowed to play football? It causes nothing but trouble, you don't see males trying to play Volleyball.

The article on Pound caught my attention too. I feel sure they will be much better than last year. The o-line goes 288-270-320-320-331-240 counting the TE. I know being big alone isn't going to win games, but dang......

Haven't seen them yet but hope to catch one of their games in the next few weeks.

Crabtree seems to be pretty optimistic about this team.

    Time will tell.

When you're 6', that's not good. How many of those are still there and not part of the almost 20 the moron ran off?

I think you need to shut your mouth before someone else does it for you. I'm not trying to be the tough guy here, I'm just saying it like it is. You should be lucky you haven't revealed who you are. But, like Cane said, it's easy to be chicken little behind the computer.
